The bestial grin of neo-imperialism:
Mexico, a land with cruel sun and people, is linked in the international imagination with drugs, tourism, and shocking cruelty. At some point, this unfortunate country has been a stage for an ongoing imperialist struggle, since 2008, generally known as the "Cartel Wars". In simple terms, local bourgeois groups are competing with one another to gain control of a massive flow of money, blood, and tears flowing towards the leading bourgeoisie on the planet - the mistress of sea and sky, the United States.
The very essence of class society is obviously evident in these conflicts. The accumulation of wealth by local businessmen, or more kindly, bourgeois wolves, leads to a gradual escalation in conflict, strengthening of the opposition, and continuation of unending struggles for the crumbs left for the workers.The world-consuming cartels have long ceased to be solely criminal organizations. Their reach extends across the globe, as evidenced by the direct merger of most cartels with various financial institutions, which took place a very long time ago. These entities also firmly integrate into the global web of imperialist influence.
According to various estimations, more than 10,000 individuals have lost their lives in cartel-related conflicts, excluding the general population, which, according to Mexico's glorious tradition, is not included in statistics. During such conflicts, the new imperialists employ a wide range of weapons and coercive tactics, including the decapitation of opposition (or those perceived as such) and the mining of roads used by federal troops. Typically, in such a contest, one party eventually prevails, gaining control of most of the market. Hegemonic cartels routinely take turns in this violent struggle.For instance, the CJNG (Criminal Organization of New Generation), which has now declared itself the new leader of this militaristic organization with the characteristics of a protostate, likes to portray itself as a protector of innocents, attracting the local population in need. You might ask what the purpose of this lengthy construct is, or where its essence lies.
And I would tell you that cartel warfare is marked by an interesting paradox. Each new victor becomes increasingly like a state in subordinating the market (and often even the law) to itself, and accumulating capital to an ever-greater extent. Sooner or later, a brand new, fully-fledged state-imperialist capitalist entity will emerge from this contest. And with Mexico as a case in point, you can see how the bourgeoisie gave no consideration whatsoever to the suffering of workers, profiting even more while continuing to shed oceans of blood. As communists, we must understand that this must be stopped.Only by establishing a new political movement separate from the bourgeoisie and dedicated to defending the rights of workers, can this goal be realized. In other words, Mexico requires a Communist Party led by the working class in order to resist these bloodthirsty cartel organizations, which is precisely what we must do.
