To the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba
On behalf of the Communist Party of Canada, we offer our deepest condolences on the passing of Commander Ramiro Valdés Menéndez.
Commander Valdés was a giant of the Cuban Revolution: a fighter from the assault on Moncada barracks, on the Granma expedition, and a comrade of Che in the battle of Santa Clara that secured the revolutionary triumph of 1959. He served the Cuban people with absolute fidelity as Minister of the Interior, Minister of Communications, and a member of the Party Central Committee. We recognize his contributions as important to the whole international Communist movement in our shared struggle against imperialism and for socialism.
Today, as Cuba endures an intensified and genocidal U.S. blockade and threats of aggression, the example of Valdés, inspires us to deepen our solidarity efforts here in Canada to break the blockade. We pledge to intensify our fight against the criminal actions of U.S. imperialism.

باسم الحزب الشيوعي الكندي، نتقدم إليكم بأحرّ التعازي في وفاة القائد راميرو فالديس مينينديث.
لقد كان القائد فالديس أحد عمالقة الثورة الكوبية؛ فقد شارك في الهجوم على ثكنة مونكادا، وفي رحلة سفينة غرانما، وكان رفيقًا لتشي في معركة سانتا كلارا التي حسمت انتصار الثورة عام 1959. كما خدم الشعب الكوبي بإخلاص مطلق، حيث تولى منصب وزير الداخلية، ووزير الاتصالات، وكان عضوًا في اللجنة المركزية للحزب. ونحن نُقدّر إسهاماته باعتبارها ذات أهمية للحركة الشيوعية الدولية بأسرها، في نضالنا المشترك ضد الإمبريالية ومن أجل الاشتراكية.
واليوم، بينما تواجه كوبا حصارًا أمريكيًا متصاعدًا يتسم بطابع إبادي، إلى جانب التهديدات بالعدوان، فإن المثال الذي جسّده فالديس يلهمنا لتعزيز جهود التضامن هنا في كندا من أجل إنهاء هذا الحصار. ونعاهدكم على تكثيف نضالنا ضد الأعمال الإجرامية التي ترتكبها الإمبريالية الأمريكية.
